NEW PROJECT: CITY KIDS IN THE WOODS

Our three-year-old’s latest hobbies include climbing fallen trees, picking flowers, collecting leaves, twigs and stones and bringing them A-L-L home!

So this weekend when we had that amazing Autumn weather instead of strolling city sidewalks we packed the car with pumpkins and blankets and teepees and drove to the woods to capture it all! Needless to say, incase the photos don’t give it away, it was a reallllly good day and this happy Mama got her updated family photos too!

So here’s what I’m thinking…this Fall before Chicago gets super cold come join us in the woods! I’d love to hold some of these mini sessions and capture your family too.

The details you need to know:

On Saturday, November 11 join us for a 30 minute styled session in LaBagh woods, you will receive a collection of 15 images (full resolution files, sent to you as a digital download to print as you please). Total cost: $100.

Availability is going to be limited, as I will only be taking on a few families. So run, get those Christmas gifts sorted! You can get in touch at ruthadams00@gmail.com.

*I love creating for individuals and want you to feel loved and beautiful…so if flower crowns are not your thing, let me know and I can let you in on some other ideas I have for Mamas and boys alike. Rx

Dusting off the ole blog tonight with a zillion photos of Summer from Roger’s Park to Belfast and a few places in between. Summer 2017 you’ve been alright. We celebrated six years of marriage, flew to Ireland, spent time with family and friends, moved homes again and had some fun visitors along the way.

And yet as our warm Summer days are starting to turn into cooler Autumn ones, I’m looking forward to getting into a new rhythm and starting something new…

Miss Summer will be starting play school three mornings a week (next week!!) and I’ve been excitedly planning some preschool homeschooling for our girl who is so eager to learn all about life. With our classroom not only at our kitchen table but also at the park, the zoo, library, new nearby beaches, hopping around this colorful city and breathing in some fresh city air, we’re excited!

I’m in the process of collecting some new books and making a little corner just for our mini-lessons at home but am ready to dive in, pulling some ideas and inspiration from different sources. The Kindergarten toolkit, the Peaceful Preschool curriculum and Exploring Nature with Children to name a few. Hope to post a little here and there of how we get on and would LOVE to hear any good resources or ideas out there!

I know being able to stay at home and be with my girls is such a privilege and blessing and as the girls get older the responsibility to steward these blessings well feels that bit heavier. Ultimately we are praying that as we spend these early years together our girls will come to know and love their Creator, that as we explore and play and get our hands dirty together they will experience and respond to God’s creativity and artistry and power that can be seen all around.

So here goes! Week One. Letter A.

Norah Joy is One

We had the best weekend celebrating Norah Joy with some family time, donuts, a quick trip from Granda A and a little backyard party for our girl! I kinda love throwing baby birthday parties!! I know, I know, they won’t remember it, but it’s their first birthday and for me it’s more about celebrating everyone in the family! We made it! We all survived! What an awesome year!!

So I picked up the yummiest little cake from Sweet Mandy B’s…because your first taste of vanilla buttercream frosting should really be from Sweet Mandy B’s. Not sure how much Norah was actually into the whole cake thing but at least the big kids definitely appreciated helping her out with it! Who needs forks on birthdays!! Am I right, kids!? ;)

The sun shone and the back garden was filled with friends who feel like family. We’re so very thankful for you.

To our sweet, sweet Norah, here are some things we just love about you:

…your little scoot and how you clean my floors, when we say ‘KISS’, you’re always mouth, open and ready, that little giggle of yours, the way you wiggle and point when you spot the park or swings nearby and your fierce mama love!! Can’t wait to watch you grow and discover more this next year and of course introduce you to family and friends in Ireland this Summer!!

Norah Joy you are loved, happiest first birthday to you baby girl!!! x

Some favorite posts from your last year here, here and here.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13
